Our anodes are not just zinc, but an alloy made up according to Federal Specifications, MIL-A-18001K, to ensure continuous protection for the life of the anode. A good anode should corrode away completely, sacrificing itself totally to save the life of more noble metals to which it is attached. If the anode fails to give itself completely to absordbing the corrosive activity, it cannot protect the parts of your boat that you want it to. The most important things that give the anode full protection are proper installation and an active alloy that is free of impurities.
