MARINE VS. AUTOMOTIVE
There is confusion many times with the difference between over the counter automotive parts and marine engine parts. Besides price- marine parts due to the environment they are introduced to are respectivly different. Some of the most notable differences are found in the exhaust, cooling, fuel and electrical systems.



WINTER ENGINE CARE:
Make sure that your boat is ready for the winter season. Below you will find some general maintenance tips to help prepare for your winter.

- Put fuel stabilizer into full tank

- Remove prop and inspect, Lubricate if necessary

- Use flush attachment to flush engine with clean water

- Run engine at idle for several minutes to get fuel lines, carburetor, etc. full of treated fuel

- Drain warm motor oil

- Change filter and add appropriate amount of oil

- Run engine to make sure oil is circulated

- Spray fogging oil in carburetor while engine is running and run engine a few minutes

- Drain and fill gear case/vertical drive unit lubricant

- Drain inboard, I/O engine cooling system and all vertical drive passages

- Winterize cooling system with appropriate anti-freeze

- Remove battery, check water level, charge and store in cool dry location

- Disconnect portable fuel line tank

- Grease all fittings and lubricate the prop shaft

- Use touch-up paint as needed

- Clean polish and wax shroud, lower unit/vertical drive

- Spray rust preventative on engine and lubricate control cables

- Check all belts and hoses

- Remove drain plug

TRAILER PREP:
Make sure that your trailer is ready for hauling your boat out. Below you will find some general maintenance tips to help prepare for your winter haulout.

- Check trailer tires for proper inflation

- Check wheel bearings for condition/grease

- Check spare tire for trailer

- Check tool kit for proper lug wrenches

- Check lights (spare bulbs) and directionals

- Safety nut and bolt for trailer hitch lock

- Check tie down straps

- Check winch line for condition

- Correct size ball hitch for trailer on vehicle

- Registration up to date/registration in vehicle
