Below is a practical guide covering three critical systems to check: Engine, Fuel, and Electrical.
Engine Inspection
Your engine is the heart of your boat, making it one of the most important areas to inspect during spring startup.- Look for signs of cracking fraying or brittleness on your belts, hoses and clamps.
- Check the engine oil level and condition
- Inspect aluminum or zinc anodes & replace as needed
Fuel System Check
Fuel systems are especially susceptible to problems after long periods of storage, making this an essential part of your spring preparation.- Inspect fuel lines and connections for cracks, leaks, or stiffness
- Replace old or degraded fuel that has been sitting in the tank since last season
- Replace fuel filters & water separators
Electrical Inspection
A properly functioning electrical system is key to both safety and convenience on the water.- Test navigation lights, gauges, and onboard electronics
- Inspect wiring and terminals for corrosion
- Check for loose or corroded connections and grounding points
