This radio is a battery-powered portable transceiver for use on the water, providing you with Two-way vessel-to-vessel and vessel-to-shore station communications, primarily for safety and secondarily for navigation and operational purposes. We have designed this communication device to enable calls for help, coordination with other boaters, communication with lock or bridge tenders, or radiotelephone calls to anywhere in the world through a marine operator. When used in the U.S., this radio can also provide quick and simple access to ten NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) and two Canadian weather channels, dedicated to keeping you aware of critical weather conditions in your area.
